View Full Version : MySpace traffic
Hi all,
I heard of people creating traffic to their site by advertising on MySpace sites. Has anyone tried this?

Myspace? Hmmmm... let's take a look... Nice layout... let's look at some of the profi - MY EYES! AARARG!
Good grief, so many of those profile pages look like they've been thrown together by a monkey on LSD!
But enough Myspace bashing, one question that needs to be asked is, does any traffic convert? Obviously you'd need a site that is of relevance to the target market, but maybe if you slapped some adsense onto the page... :)
Actually, I think you could generate quite a bit of initial traffic to any type of site rather easily, due to curiosity clicks. Unfortunately none of the sites I work on would benefit from this sort of traffic, so i can't test it further :(
Hi,
People are still figuring out how to make money by targeting MySpace.
I mean it's quite a tight, niche demographic, but it's big. Most of the effort I see though, isn't so much as trying to attract traffic (as BlazingPie says, it famously doesn't convert), but instead they are trying to get hold of MySpace contacts lists.
To make money from MySpace you need to join and get 250,000 contacts.
Get busy Koz.... get viral!
Cheers,
Paz.

Myspace has been around for a while and as you say, is very niche,
It an effective way of advertising, and possible creating a brand out of a profile, I have seen this done before where a brand is created out of nothing, just some silly proflie.
I would say it works very well, if you have a product or service that fits well in the Myspace demographic. If not, you will generate traffic, and convert at less that 0.
Thats my thoughts.
