Seems they're be raising the minimum bid for ppl who have "low quality landing pages"

Following that change, advertisers who are not providing useful landing pages to our users will have lower Quality Scores that in turn result in higher minimum bid requirements for their keywords.

Their landing page quality guidelines can be found here: https://adwords.google.com/select/siteguidelines.html?ctx=awblog&sourceid=awo&subid=us-et-awb-070706_2

Well they had to do this to try and put stop to adwords arbitrage, whereby you bid cheap for a referral to a crappy landing page with lots of high paying ads on it (usually not Google's of course) . It's not big news yet, but when the advertisers find out about it, I'm sure there'll be an uproar.

This development's outrageous though; Google are saying it's OK to have a crappy landing page, you just have to pay us a bit more money. I'm sure legitimate advertisers will find themselves having to bid higher too - it's a win win situation for Google.

Cheers,
Paz.

It would ahve been better to have something like a ratio: if the ratio of adsense to content is poor (ie, tons of adsense on crap pages, typical MFA layout) then raise a big blag for manual review
