Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

Yahoo still like lots of keyword stuffing, highly optimised link anchor text both internally and off-site but these are things that might harm you in Google.

They also like high PR links with specific anchor text - relevant or not.

It depends on your niche but I'd focus on Google in the long term because even if you do get good rankings in Yahoo, you'll get a fraction of the traffic you might get from Google for a top 10 ranking even.

Cheers,
Paz.

Yahoo focuses on on-page content rather than placing too much value on links like Google does. To get higher ranking, you have to focus on your content rather than getting obsessed with links.

With RSS feeds as Kevin suggested, you are just helping Yahoo find your content one way or the other... after that it is the story of how well Yahoo links your content to particular keywords!

Here is a little cheat I use, code yourself a RSS feed for your website, add it to your yahoo account in the news section and it will automaticly be added to there feed directory and hay presto up your listing with their search engine at the same time :-)

The feed does not have to be complex like a feed from a blog just make the feed links to differant sections of your site :-)

If you can afford it you may want to submit your site to the yahoo directory, i submitted mine last year and have since seen a sharp increase in my Yahoo SERPs. Other standard tips are good content and keywords in your title tag.

I think Yahoo gives a lot of imporatace to domain names. So if your keyword is "ajyeuihisdf" and if you have that same keyword in your domain (ajyeuihisdf.com, ajyeuihisdf.net, etc) irrespective of the TLD, You should get good rankings in Yahoo ... considering your site has at least some good content.

I agree, the Yahoo directory inclusion is well worth it. Also, Yahoo gives more weightage to on page factors like title, headings, keyword-in-domain.

Yahoo focuses on the content of the page, rather than putting too much value on links that Google does. To obtain a higher rank, you focus on your content rather than obsessed with the links.
