Hi,
I think it's really important for a site to get listed in DMOZ. It's not always easy to get a feel a editor's selection criteria, even for experienced submitters - they seem to vary by category. Also choosing the wrong category can set you back by months.
DMOZ closed their help/advice forum years ago, but I've stumbled on a site that seems to offer advice on submissions; apparently from DMOZ editors.
