View Full Version : Contextual link directory
Hi I found a great directory with contextual links;
http://www.spiderwise.co.uk/
This concept's much better for relevance than the standard titles and descriptions in regular internet directories and should make for a strong link in Google. They require a link back from the site though, which is fair enough but not possible with some of my sites... I'm discussing that with them now.
Cheers,
Paz.

Did u manage to organise links out of them?
It is an interesting idea that is the basic continuation of the idea Chatmaster came up with for his contextual directory (http://www.chatmastercasinos.com/), however I'm a bit concerned about the amount of links per site on each page. It's quite a bit, like 10 or so to the same site in some cases...
Yeah, pity they not a paid directory, they could make a wod of cash

Yah, I am working on that. I actually just launched 2 realty directories and also will soon launch a general directory. I am planning on making it a paid and recip directory, the problem is however that I need a payment system and Paypal do not except payments to SA. It looks however asif Moneybookers are interested in helping me.

These links will not be from the same category within the directory and deep links must be applicable to the category under which it is listed. So it should be pretty useful. ;-)

Hi All!
I'm busy learning about titles and descriptions as well as directory submissions. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

Well we've written a general guide to do's and don'ts of directory submissions (http://www.digital-m.co.za/articles/directory-submissions-guide.html) and it's quite popular...
Anyway, the people who originally set up the site Spiderwise site were onto something, but when I wrote to them I got a "You're in the directory but I'll have to contact my boss about your offer" message, but I never heard back. It shows up as a strong backlink in Yahoo though, and I'm sure it would in Google if they hadn't knobbled their "link:" operator.

this whole idea is actually interesting. Instead of use dir software, why not use something like a wordpress blog as a directory? Each category would have it's own set of blog posts as the pages and you'd simply add a paragraph to each page...
Of course, an idea like that would mean heavy modification to the wordpress software, but the frontend would look more natural. Hell, you could even tie it in with Text-Link-Ads' blog post feature if you don't want to do a lot of management. The rough idea is that you write content, get links and a bit of PR to it, and then allow ppl to 'sponsor' keywords via TLA :)
Interesting ideas, don't you think?
The only real problem I see with that is trying to get SEOs wanting to buy links to wrap their heads around the idea, lol :p
