did anyone else notice a google update on the weekend,
Some of my sites did fairly well

Yup, I've seen it too and it's a strange update.
I have a few financial sites from the UK I'm watching in google.com and google.co.uk.
The sites have improved a lot in google.co.uk but have nose-dived in google.com sugesting strong localisation in this update. (It's also possible that the update hasn't fully propagated though).
Also, if I do a "UK only" search in .co.uk I hardly see any improvement, suggesting to me that the "world searches" are already strongly filtered for UK sites in google.co.uk.
There is a slight issue though. If I rank highly for some keyword, when I do a search phrase for "keyword UK" I'm nowhere. It's as though there's an over-optimisation filter for or something.
I'd be interested to see if anyone's done a check in google.co.za on any of their South African sites to see if they are seeing the same thing.
Cheers,
Paz.
From I've seen for my sites, rankings improved in Google.co.za (SA searches) but went down a bit in Google.co.za (worldwide search). But this difference in rankings do not apply to all the targeted keywords.
Did anyone notice an update mess up in Goolge last week? I saw sites targeting UK and hosted in the UK doing better in Google.co.uk (worldwide) than in UK searches only. But its gone back to normal now. I think this goes to show that localisation is definately a big part of this update.
Cheers, Koz

hey Koz
I also saw that, i think they might hgave roll backed the update to a previous version due to some problems with the update or algo
