Seems Aaron Wall is closing down threadwatch.org this Friday (http://www.threadwatch.org/node/15907). His rationale is that the site has died slowly over time, due to (mainly) a changing marketplace.
It's always sad to see a site shut down because of this, especially when you've put in so much time to it :(
I know this sounds stupid but will someone take a screenshot of that node for me, i dont really have time and i wanna go clubbing in a second (im in thailand)
Cant believe its happeneing, you miss so much

I would but it's longer than 1 screen so I couldn't be bothered right now :p
in summary, he says these are the following reasons:
1) Aaron feels it's too edgy (and apparently some others feel that way too) and doesn't have the time to make it more mainstream
2) he also feels that too many people are causing trouble, eg trying to hijack threads or calling every article crap.
3) the market has become saturated and so to make it different he has to become way more edgy and is scared people would think the site a farce
4) Decentralisation of the news sources making it difficult to keep track
5) Friends posting low-level junk on the site
I think it's a big mistake.
The problem for Aaron was that over the last year(s) the founders have started their own blogs and posted their scoops there; linking to them from threadwatch rather contributing to it (as Aaron sees it maybe).
That's meant the place has become more of a hub than a direct source of SEO/SEM news but for me that's not a bad thing for me.
Anyway, if it does close down there'll be an opening for a site that can produce a reliable "best of the rest" as threadwatch has done for so long.
Who's up for it?
I think we could all do it
I read 89 feeds myself :p

I'd probably be doing the same (there's so much to read) but then I have a 9-5 job, so I can't :p
Well the site's still up, but the ads are down and so are the post categories... very sad.
