Google updates its Webmaster Guidelines

Yep, Google has updated it's webmaster guidelines to cover most of what they've been saying recently

Most of us will already know this stuff as it's been mentioned on blogs, etc, however it'll make a good reference point when talking to clients :)

It is interesting, especially this part;

These quality guidelines cover the most common forms of deceptive or manipulative behavior, but Google may respond negatively to other misleading practices not listed here...

That's typical from Google these days. I really think it's like trying to frighten children with threats that the bogeyman will come if they step out of line.

well, its also probably a case of them covering their butts, i suppose. Ie, giving themselves some room in case they create new penalities and dont update the guidelines.
