An interesting article on the order of getting links for new sites, thanks to Trustrank. The basic gist is that you must get some trust right off the bat, and from there start with article submissions, etc. Crappy links wont really matter then because the site has a 'spine' already :)
Hi,
Interesting article. We started this site with a relevant PR5 link from Bluesouth, and then we had some help from Chatmaster and Webzcas and now we're trying to build up our backlinks slowly.
I think we're sandboxed though. For "South African searches only", we don't rank in the top 200 for "search engine marketing forum", but we are at #1 for allinchor.
It's certainly going to be a long haul in Google!
Cheers,
Paz.

I also just found us on MSN http://search.msn.co.za/results.aspx?q=seo+forum&FORM=QBHP&rf=1
I'm really pleased with the way it's going in Google, but there are sites in African that rank better than we do... haha
