Hi, I created a website for a client and Im now im working on a SEM strategy for the client, free of charge cause this is an exercise for me.

Im going to start of with installing Google Analytics and creating and XML sitemap.

Then I will be submitting the website and sitemap in the marjor search engines.

But what I want to bring to the table will be my next step in my SEM strategy. Here is a list of good RSA web directories(i think) in which I will submit the website.

1. www.ananzi.co.za PR 7
2. www.woyaa.com PR 6
3. www.easyinfo.co.za PR 6
4. www.sayellow.co.za PR 6 (site under maintenance)
5. www.yellowpages.co.za PR 6 (awaiting response)
6. www.aardvark.co.za PR 6
7. www.brabys.com PR 5
8. www.biz-community.com PR 5
9. www.southafrica-online.org PR 5
10. www.searchengine.co.za PR 5
11. www.ezsearch.co.za PR 5
12. www.tradepage.co.za PR 5
13. www.firsttier.co.za PR 4 (awaiting response)
14. www.southafrica.co.za PR 4
15. www.sawebdirectory.co.za PR 3

Page Rank data taken from SEO quake.

After this I will post the website into 15 top international directories.

Then I will ask the client to give me information for articles, then I will send it to my web copywriter and post it on various high PR article sites, like ezine.

I'm very nervous of this plan cause i have no experience, i have not even submitted a site into a directory. What does the community here think of this?

Hi,

This looks like a good local list. Have you seen our list of SA directories (http://forums.digital-m.co.za/showthread.php?t=188) ?

If you're going international you should bear in mind that you will probably have to submit to a fairly deep category that won't be crawled very often. We've submitted anyway to sume pretty strong directories such as business.com and haven't seen anything like the upturn we see when we don't have a regional site.

Cheers,
Paz.

Thank you for the response, that you link you gave me is mostly RSA search engines, do they offer the same value as directories. I gathered a international list aswell.

1. www.ipl.org PR 9
2. www.dmoz.com PR 8
3. http://www.busybits.com/ PR 6
4. www.rdirectory.net PR 6 (only really good sites)
5. http://www.dirnext.com/ PR 6
6. http://www.ezilon.com/ PR 6
7. http://www.tsection.com/ PR 5
8. http://www.directory-free.com/ PR 5
9. http://www.bizseo.com/ PR 5
10. http://directory.seo-supreme.com/ PR 5
11. http://mastermoz.com/ PR 5
12. http://information.com/PR 5
13. http://www.skoobe.biz/PR 5
14. http://www.pegasusdirectory.com/ PR 5
15. http://rcreducation.com/PR 5

and i also made a list of niche directories(real estate) also 15 of them.

i know that the above mentioned directories are good. some of them will take time to revise my urls.

so all together i will submit my site into 45 solid directories. is this enough? i know some people submit their site into thousands of directories, but i believe in quality just a little above quantity in the SEO world.
