So Frustrating - Blogging / Wordpress / Laptop

OK so my laptop is nearly 2 years old but Ive never had this problem before

When I use wordpress and go to save a very short post it saves fine. This is on the latest wordpress version using Windows XP SP2. When I go to save a longer post it just loads...and loads...and loads. THen eventually it tells me it times out.

However when I go to my desktop which runs windows Vista I can save and publish posts of any lenght, so this means that:


It cant be the server because it works on my other computer?
It cant be wordpress because it works on my other computer
It cant be a browser thing as I have tried Opera and Firefox on my laptop


I really don't want to format my laptop to try it but its only happened recently which is very strange. All thats changed is that I upgraded wordpress (not sure if this was an exact timing issue) but that would mean it wouldnt work on my desktop, right?

Its so annoying and so confusing that its costing me a lot of time having to do my graphics which i do on my laptop, email them to myself and go to my desktop just to type :cry:

Any help / ideas will be greatly appreciated

P.S This is happening on 2 wordpress blogs on the same server, one was upgraded and one wasnt

Hi Glen,

I can't really see how posting with WordPress could be an O/S issue because a WP post is almost 100% server related.

Having said that, it possible that your laptop is blocking either js, certain ports or you're using P2P software on your laptop but not on your desktop.

Send me a PM and I'll give you the admin login for one of our test blogs. If you like you can create a Paz user account on your blog and I can try to post from my PC - I'm using XP SP2 as well.

P2P is completely unrelated to apache/IIS...

still, jsut switch to linux ;) it /is/ the native environment for apache, mysql and php :p

What updates do you have on your laptop and what kind of connection are you connecting to the Inet with.... you have found someone that can help you ;)

Normally its due to a intermittent connection especially if you using wireless. The signal can be interrupted and this can cause the time out.
As far as the desktop pc its prob setup on a fixed line?

Let me know your connection medium with the laptop and ill help you diagnose the issue further.

Hi Snoopy, Ive found that when it isnt working (which is very rare now) that i just restart my laptop and it works
