Hi all,
Been browsing through the net looking for a decent SEO site to get a better idea of the industry etc and i came upon this site
http://www.whitehatmedia.com/meta-tools.asp
I am wondering what good these tools are and if you would add to their list?
If they have decent tools loaded please post here and say so.
Thanks

Yep, I am way to used to the right click function on my FF browser. I recently got a new PC with Vista and was lost completely untill I installed SEOpen plugin.
I am also still a vivid supporter of Digitalpoint ;-)
For keyword research i use:
- Wordtracker free version
- Aaron Wall's Keyword Tool - tools.seobook.com
- Overture
And Firefox plugin i use seo for firefox found on the tools.seobook.com page aswell

You know i hear about all these tools but i really dont konw exactly how they work.... if i want to learn more about SEO i would really enjoy learning what wordtracker does and what SEOpen does and how it gets its results.... that way i can establish for myself when a new tool comes out if its good or not.

Interesting that you still use these, I haven't used any of them for many years.

I looked through the list it's pretty useful but many can replaced with Firefox extensions.
Alexa rank - easily manipulated/ distorted but can be useful for very high volume sites. You can get this from from the Quirk SEO Firefox extension (http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/).
PageRank tool - also comes with Quirk extension.
Keyword suggestions - We used to use the Overture tool on SEOBook too but Yahoo have shut down the tool. Wordtracker only covers the US market as I understand it.
Backlink Checker - also covered with the Quirk extension.
Keyword density - a bit of an anachronism these days but can be useful. Also covered by the Quirk SEO tool.
Keyword Position - Get ranking software such as Web CEO to monitor your site's and competitors ranking over time. Sometimes you can't beat a manual inspection of the SERPs though.
Meta Extractor - Also comes with the Quirk tool
Meta Tag Generator - definitely write these manually and be sure to make the descriptions natural looking and unique.
Site Link Analyzer - Useful but there's also another useful Firefox tool that was designed for web developers but is invaluable as an SEO tool (http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/).
Spider Simulator - invaluable to make sure the SE's can crawl pages but also covered by the above web development tool.
Google Banned Checker - Another vital tool but comes with the Quirk extension.
Google PageRank Predictor - Useless... LOL
Website Speed Test - Very important for human visitors but is included with the web development tool listed above.
In short there are some useful SEO tools there but most if not all the important ones are covered in the Quirk and Web Developer extensions.
Cheers,
Paz.
