Hey, matt
too a quick glance at your site, and the onpage stuff is looking good. One change i'd recogmend is changing all the Home links to point to the domain name and not index.htm, this will prevent duplicate content penalties and help concentrate any PR the domain name gets.
A biggie would be to change the links page. Change it to something like "resources" or "sites of interest" or any BUT "links". It screams seo and looks bad :( Also, the way the links page is set up also screams SEO and you'll have a difficult time getting that page indexed. Links pages are losing usefullness FAST, but here is a way to help prolong their usefulness:
Instead of having the layout like this:
Online Football Betting at Bodog! <-link
All the best NFL odds and lines at Bodog Sportsbook! <-text
try make it flow, like a blog or article, eg have a short paragraph for each link:
blah blah blah blah blah blah Online Football Betting at Bodog rocks! blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
one step further would even be (if you had enough of the same sort of links) to group them all together and make a small, themed page, eg Online-Football-Betting.html. That way, you would have a highly targetted page that wouldnt necessarily scream seo (and thus raise a flag) and would be indexed quicker.

Hey Blazing
Thank you for your feedback.
So you are saying i should point all the pages currently pointing to index.html to http://www.sapokershop.co.za ?
I didnt know that if you have a links.html page it makes it difficult to index, but we learn new things every day :) i think the best bet would be to make a gambling page where i would list all the sites related to that specific type of gambling.
This is going to take some time but im sure it would be worth it.
I have been monitoring my rank for certain keywords on google.co.za for a few days. check out the data and tell me what you think. Still need to do quite a bit of optimization on my pages content so im sure i can get to top 5 atleast.

Yeah, it is, especially when you're targetting a competitive industry like gambling. Even the smallest possible problem should not exist if at all possible!

I'll have a look at the rankings when i get the chance :) So far they look pretty decent

Hi there
I am in the process of optomizing the website pages pointing to http://www.sapokershop.co.za instead of index.html also creating a new page name to be used instead of links.
I just done a check with a domain stats tool and i am very confused
These are the results:
Domain Name sapokershop.co.za

My Ranking on MSN for a few of my keywords is doing very well :

Poker Chip Sets 4
Card Shuffler 1
Poker Tables 3
Dealer Shoe 1
My Question is Why do i have so many Backlinks with MSN and not with Google Yahoo?
Please can someone help.
Thank you
Hi Matt,
don't worry about the "missing links" in Google. They've not shown all the links they know about for years. They show a random sample instead.
Yahoo filters out links from your own domain, and MSN is much better at sniffing out links that other search engines would ignore; links from pages with session ID's for example.
You'll need a lot more links to rank in the market you are competing for. Also looking around your site, I see you are targeting "shop" quite hard. I'd spread my net a bit wider and try at the same time for "online + " "shop" "store" "wholesaler" etc, maybe "poker products/consumables".
I'd also add more shopping keywords, especially on the home page. These would be "buy" "discount" "special offer" "purchase" "order"... LOL... I guess you get the idea. I'd also add a "Terms and Conditions" page with lots of shopping keyword text. I'd also think about adding a shopping cart; another surefire sign that it's a shop.
Cheers,
Paz.

Hi Matt
For some reason I have completely missed this thread for a while, I am truly sorry about that. We can certainly do a few link trades if you are interested. But these will be unconventional and only contextual on new pages to your internal pages. Do you own any other poker related sites or blogs?

Forgot to add I get a 404 on your onlinepokersites page.
Also Chatmaster is too modest to boast about it, but he has his own forum where most of the members are casino and poker site owners; SA Marketing (http://www.samarketing.co.za/forum/default.asp). Perhaps you should have a look there.

Thanks, Paz. Yah, there are some members there that can definately help you with a few backlinks, BiggestB is top of your list, he has allot of poker sites, There is allot of valuable links available and probably more than 200 poker sites between the members there. Although there are only 20 members they are all super affiliates in the online gambling industry and good people to work with. Feel free to join and ask for links! We love people like that :)

Hi Matt, I have a site I can help you with some contextual backlinks on, www.pokersouthafrica.co.za
Do you possibly have some press releases that I can release on there? Keywords I wish you to target is keywords like 'Poker Table', 'poker chips' and 'poker chip sets'. I would gladly link back back to your site to the applicable pages contextually you do not need to return any links.

Hi Mat
It seems your site is doing realy well in the search results. I think you have a unique niche that you are in because here in SA we dont have many of these sites. This helps you in the long hall because as your site gets older so the trust with Google gets even better. Best of luck mate and weldone with your business...balls to the wall.
