I'm hearing lots of squealing about the latest PR update. It seems most sites have lost ground.

I admit I don't know where the heck my site is going with it. My homepage PR has been going up and down like a yoyo since the end of last week. And it still hasn't stabilised. I lost a point between this morning and this afternoon.

My top PR page according to Google webmaster tools is a page that returns a 404 not found and has not existed for 4 months and has zero external or internal links

Google has finally crawled for page rank on the 25th night and I did benefit to a great extent. My pr for a couple of websites did increase .One had a pr of 3 which increased to 4 and one which didn't have a pr moved over to 2.Google had to do this as it faced severe criticism from all possible places about not crawling efficiently this particular year for PR updates compared to last year.So people who launched their websites this year or sometimes earlier are set to benefit as the next crawl will possibly be for backlinks followed by a combo crawl for PR and backlinks. Here is the link that explains all.

Google did crawl for PR and backlinks on the 25th of October. The results proved beneficial for those who started out new.A couple of my websites had an increase in pagerank. One increased form three to four the other shot up to 2 from nil.
On the other hand Google penalised websites who went in for a paid listing.Their backlinks were not counted rather their PR dropped.Google has nothing to do with paid listings provided it is purchased by a Google Adsense account.
The next Google Crawl for the same is rumored to be in jan/feb or in April and this time it will be tough based on a much more complex algorithm. Lets be careful.
Good Luck and Regards.
