Google's Adwords system has no direct impact on PR or page rankings in the search engine index - or at least that is what Google claims.

That's right. Adwords is a direct pay-per-click marketing tool, and as such does not affect a website's PR or ranking in the search-engines.
Also - links in the adwords ads are Javascript links and as such do not pass any PR to the websites they link to.

google adwords is useful for pay per click that means google adwords is a pay per click tool. if you want quick traffic on your site then pay per click is very good way to increase the traffic on your site quickly. google adwords is not beneficial for page rank.

mm, i hear what you are all saying and i dont think it has anything to do with pr however:
Since google use a matrix to position your ad using what they call quality score, they index and crawl your landing page. If its used for ppc only, i dont know
A trick seo'ers used to use is to place adsense on their newly created website or content and google will index it almost instantly.
funny thing google !!

Adword directly has nothing to do with PR.
AdWords advertising lets you:
* Target your ads specifically to people who are looking for your products or services.
* Avoid showing your ads to users who aren't likely to purchase from you.
* Obtain the maximum return on your advertising investment.
Benefits of Google AdWords
* No minimum buy
* Easy and fast creation
* Almost immediate implementation
* Pay only for clicks
* Bid for placement
* Set maximum cost per day
* Stop or pause campaign at any time

Hi,
It's not easy to explain Adwords in two or three lines. You need to research more on it and I would suggest to find out online resources to learn Adwords. And, there is no relation between PR and Adwords.

AdWords is Google's flagship advertising product and main source of revenue ($16.4 billion in 2007). AdWords offers pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, and site-targeted advertising for both text and banner ads. The AdWords program includes local, national, and international distribution. Google's text advertisements are short, consisting of one title line and two content text lines. Image ads can be one of several different Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) standard sizes.
