Internet Marketing Predictions 2007

I have discovered the following predictions on online marketing (http://www.emaildays.com/archives/online_marketing_predictions/) and wondered what you guys think of it or maybe some predictions from others in our industry that you might feel are worth looking at?

There's some interesting ideas in there.

I agree that the usage of video to sell a product will become increasingly important as more and more people gain access to broadband. I can imagine some people just can't be bothered to read text, but the problem for search engine optimisers would be that search engine spiders can't rank a video for relevance - maybe we can add transcripts LOL.

The "content is king" prediction is also very sound. The search engines, and especially Google, are getting better all the time at filtering cookie clutter and will increasingly be able to add more weight to on-page factors and still be confident about keeping out spam sites.

The most interesting ones predictions for me are the growth of user generated content sites (so-called vertical sites) and social networks. Searches for the social networks MySpace and Bebo topped Google searches for 2006 according to a recent BBC article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6189809.stm), "video" was the number 7 most popular search. More and more people are using the web to interact rather than just browse for info.

I also see that Paris Hilton (http://forums.digital-m.co.za/showthread.php?t=224) tops the news searches in Google. What we need to do is create a social network site with videos of Paris Hilton.. has she made any videos though... :shhh:

Hey Paz, you just gave me an idea! Wouldn't it be cool to do a site where you can post videos from around the work place. But funny stuff like what this guy did while hi co-worker was away (ok, its an image not a video but you get the idea)
