6 months back 1 have registered a site by name browseme.info this is a directory site providing info on health, management, software and many more. I usually submit the site and the pages in site to major searchengines and post atleast 10 forums daily, even though i m doing lot of hard work i have not able to cross an average target of 50 :-( . It hurts when i dont get an expected traffic. Moreover i can't maintain the average too... i also post my site to top most directories. I don't know what is going wrong is there any wrong in my content an't able to understand....

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

thank you all

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

6 months is quite early for a website, especially a directory. Much of your site is in Google's supplemental or "B index" which will possibly cause you ranking problems.

You need to boost your content in your directory and article sub-pages. The best way to get content to the directory is to invite free submissions for a while until you get a few links and descriptions in each category. That will boost your page content and will help to get you back into Google's main index.

Later on you can stop free submissions and go for paid or reciprocal links only.... but you have too many empty sub-pages at the moment.

Cheers,
Paz.

Hi Jack19

Welcome to the forum.

Your site seem very spammy with regards to the Google adds being all over the place, with very little content. But for some reason I do not think that this is a problem. You seem to lack allot of deeplinks into the internal pages.

I tend to agree with Paz and Chatmaster,

If i were you, i would probably have a look at the objective of the website,

Keep it very clean. add a lot of content, dont try too much in terms of getting a lot of links, remember quality rather than quantity.

I would remove the google adverts for the moment, it will help with people wanting to add their own content,

User generated content is a great way to build content, submit your site to places that allow submissions so that other sites can link to you,

Let link builders know of your site.

Other thank that, keep building solid content and quality links, 6 months is very early.

Daniel

Well, everyone above has made valid points. 6 months is very early for a directory specifically if it isn't geo targeted. I recently built a portal for East London and in 5 months now have a PR2. I avoid submitting to directories.

Rather build a good sitemap, use Google analytics so you can see what google sees. Add more CONTENT! Hide empty categories! Sort your meta data out. They don't have as much weight with Google anymore but they do still check it out. Take it easy with the adsense - rather put it at the bottom with your article links at the top. Give your visitors an introduction about the site on the frontpage (adds content and not just links!) Place the juicy content above the pagebreak, what do you see when the page loads? Search, Ads and links.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
