Just posted up this blog entry, wondering whether google sees page titles as some form of internal backlink, or simply doesnt have the wording in its system to actually describe why that page ranked for that keyterm :rolleyes:

Ah, you mean page filenames not titles I think.

Our site's at #1. It was a typo in the filename made by the web developer, but I didn't say anything to see what would happen. We don't have any backlinks or other mentions of the keyword phrase ANYWHERE other than in the filename. It's a typo that brings (small) traffic though.

Yeah i meant filenames, sorry

Well your example does actually have some of the words on the page, but in theory its pretty similar

Ah well, i normally do these tests in private ;)

Yeah I've noticed that file names have a big impact on rankings, but not just that its directory names too...
