View Full Version : podcast / blogcast
Do you do either of these?
Certainly not... LOL
What's the difference between a blogcast and a podcast anyway?
Why the certainly not?
A blogcast is a portmanteau of two better known media types, the blog and the podcast into a single website. A blogcast is a podcast with an associated text summary, which can be indexed by search engines to make the podcast searchable. A "'blogcast'" can also be and instrumental piece of music that would reflect part of someone's life, e.g. a busy piece means a busy time. It can still be accompanied by text.
A podcast is a media file that is distributed by subscription (paid or unpaid) over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers[1]. Like 'radio', it can mean both the content and the method of broadcast. The latter may also be termed podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. The person who receives the podcast is often called the wainer.
Though podcasters' web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their content, a podcast is distinguished from other digital audio formats by its ability to be downloaded automatically using software capable of reading feed formats such as RSS or Atom.
Thanks for explaining the difference Glen.
I don't know, with broadband usage expanding I can see that it will be increasingly important to to get videos out there for the people who don't have time or don't want to read.
I remember when Matt Cutts did a few podcasts... watched it for 20 seconds and decided I hated the guy more than ever. Luckily you made a transcript available... you must have gotten a lot of traffic for that?
