proper number of backlinks from google?

Well... not really. using Google's blog search to search for backlinks, you can find a more accurate (allegedtly) number of links, but only from blogs.

Still, it's better than nothing you know?

btw, link:digital-m.co.za returns 19 results, from 3 sites (about 17 of the links are from digital-m's blog :p)

I use yahoo for checking my new backlinks. But in all fairness I normally use google as they are who count!

Except Google doesn't show all the backlinks it's aware of, only a sampling *shakes fist at them angrily*

I did a post "Googlebot Behaviour (http://www.digital-m.co.za/seo-blog/2006/08/googlebot-behaviour.html)" relating to one of her posts. Soon after we got a hit from her vanity search and next thing we had a link on her post. So thats not realy meeting but there was some contact in a way

The links tab in Google Webmaster Tools was doing quite well, I thought. You mean I might have more backlinks :oops:

Yes the webmaster tools do provide more backlinks, but I ussually compare it with the backlinks that yahoo show to have a more accurate fugure to work with.
