Certain studies refect that searchers are more likely to search for non-branded terms early in the search and branded terms closer to purchase. Search Marketers uses non-branded terms to drive searchers towards branded terms later in the search and purchase cosideration process. In order to do so metrics used to determine the efectiveness of search terms must be changed to give more "credit" to the non-branded terms.... I would like to know what you guys think of that.

Im a bit confused by what you mean by "Search Marketers uses non-branded terms to drive searchers towards branded terms later in the search and purchase cosideration process".

well acording to the study i read they rank for non-branded terms to draw traffic to there sites they claim that non-branded terms get better response than banded terms and draws clients to there branded terms using this method. These statements are focused on online purchasing of products so example they would rank for a non-branded (generic brand) product to lead the users to a well known brand wich would be the final choice of purchase. I just wanted to know what you guys think of that weather it be fact or Assumption.:rtfm:

Interesting... depends on the market but I guess most people would search for "loans" rather than "Some Company loans".

The generic term brings traffic though, but hits for the company name usually convert really well though.

Do you have the url for us so we can have a look?

That makes total sence Doubi, it'll be easier to rank for "cola" than "coke cola" (bad example but i'm sure you know what i mean).

Well, targeting a generic name (eg socks) the getting them to by a specific brand (eg X's Uber Socks) is standard practices by default, because your site will invaraibly list the brand name of the product...

As paz said, this generates more traffic than targeting a specific brand name but generally has a lower conversion rate
