Hi All

Hope everyone is doing great, been a long time since I was last here.

I have had a few problems with the site over the past few months and the problem is that the site is getting blocked by some corporate companies... obvisouly becasue the domain had poker in it.

What i would like to know is your suggestions on getting around this? My ideas are:

1. Register a new domain without poker and mirror the site.
2. Register a new domain and redirect to current domain which probably will still get blocked.
3. Register a new domain and use an iframe to display the site

Please let me know what your thoughts are on which option you think would be better and why.

If you can remember me check out my site http://www.sapokershop.co.za and let me know what you think of the progress.

I have also improved hugely in the SEO with my site ranking no:1 for the keyword Poker in google.co.za and ranking top 1 for poker shop in google web.

Thank you

Glad to hear that your SEO is going well :)

As for the blocked access, they could be blocking it via a number of ways. The easiest is simply to block the specific URL/domain. Another way is to block any URL containing that word. Finally, there is a way to block a specific server is via the IP address. This will block any site on that server, however :(

In the end, they're probably, as you say, blocking any URL with 'poker' in it. You could set up a mirror for them. However, if you want to, you could simply buy another domain, then point it at the main one. Then, as your site uses PHP, you can then modify the template to check which domain the person is requesting, and then add in meta robots to block search engines.

This will prevent dup content problems in case some one starts linking to the mirror domain.

Thanx Blazing

Think I am going to go with your suggestion and register a new domain. If i point the new domain to the existing domain will the users Server not pick up that it getting redirected?and then block the site anyway?

It depends on how the blocking is working. Say you set up www. coolsite.com to point to www. pokersite.com

If the server has blocked the domain pokersite.com then the visitors will be able to access your site. If the server blocks any URL with the word 'poker' in it, it will block www. coolsite.com/pokerrocks.html, www. coolsite.com/poker_tips/, www. coolsite.com/another-url-with-poker-in-it.php etc etc etc.

If you are in contact with some of these 'victims', see if they can still access something like www. google.co.za/search?q=poker

If they can't, then the server is using word-based blocking at least (or is whitelisting google.com, lol).

If the server is using word-based blocker, you will then need to set up a site that does not use the banned words in any URI at all - perhaps a proxy site that ONLY fetches content from sapokershop.
