View Full Version : Cool Wordpress plugin for mobiles
I stumbled on a link with some excellent Wordpress plugins.

There's one there that can be used add a PDA friendly interface for your blog. Koz's already written about how to set up a website for mobiles (http://www.digital-m.co.za/articles/seo-for-mobile-browsers.html), and we're convinced that it's going to be an important market, especailly as it's so cheap in South Africa.
We should definitely test this this Wordpress plugin for mobiles; what do you think Koz?
you dont use wordpress ;)
Yeah we use Blogger for a lot of clients and it's a disaster for us. I've been trying to publish a blog since Friday afternoon and keep getting errors; it's really unreliable for publishing, but that's the least of our problems... LOL
We use Google's blogspot for a lot our websites and recently very old, very well establised blogs are going supplemental; usually something you associate with a duplicate content problem. The thing is I've written a lot of this blog content myself and I know it's unique. I thought the duplicate content problem was that we have a blog.htm content, an archive-month.htm content, a permalink.htm content, then there are the RSS feeds etc. WordPress comes with a "categories" option, as you know, which you might think would exacerbate the problem, but it doesn't seem to. I'm still looking, but Blogspot blogs seem to have a lot of what could be viewed algorithmically as "hidden" links.
Another problem we have is that I have "latest blog: blah blah blah" in many of my forum posts. These used to point to our client's blogs, but since we upgraded to Blogger beta, they now they point to blogger.com; so now we have another duplicate content problem as you'll see if you look at this recent post (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2295059&postcount=18) and try following the link to my "latest blog".
We tried to import the our seo blog into WordPress and were nearly there but had other more urgent things to look at. Maybe we should take another look!
Ive imported from Blogger to Wordpress before and it was 'relatively' easy, just let me know if you need a hand :)
Yes I'd like to give importing from blogger to wordpress another try. Glen, does the appearance of your blog look the same when you import or does it change? The reason I ask is that I'm sometimes required to redesign a blog and have found it to far easier to redesign the old blogger template. I've almost got redesigning the wordpress template down though, just look at the blog on my global warming site. There are still a few hic-ups but its getting there.
Paz you're right, we should check out the wordpress plugins for mobiles as soon as we cross over. South Africans are more and more using their cell phones to access the net. And I can tell you from personal experience that many many sites haven't optimised for mobile browsers. Mobile companies are encouraging this trend by making mobile browsing cheap (though some people don't know this yet), its around R2 a meg (what’s that in dollars  ). I've some that many people, including me, use their phones to search/visit sites on news, information and other areas of interest. I even know some one that uses her phone to search for recipes when she doesn’t know what to cook for dinner!
well, it doesnt copy the wordpress design into blogger if thats what you mean, but if you mean you have a wordpress blog designed then import blogger, then it doesnt mess with your design
Hope that makes sense ;)
