Hi All,
This is a piece on how Microsoft's Live search might develop in 2009.
I know we've criticised the MSN search engine in the past, but the company that are shipping some 20 million copies of Window's Vista every month must be a force to be reckoned with! Myself I'm sticking with MS Office, Word, Excel and XP as long as possible on my PC, but I might consider switching to the Live Search Engine if they can improve on their SERPs results.
Last year, Microsoft announced they were re-branding (again). “MSN Search” became “MSN Live (beta)” in 2004 and then plain and simple “Live” in 2006. We’ve already reported in a previous letter that Microsoft recently conceded they were 5 years behind Google in terms of the quality of their search engine results.
We think that 5 years is an under-estimate, but rather than playing catch-up, Microsoft are reportedly re-branding their search engine as “Kumo”, which means “spider” in Japanese.
I'm sure Bill Gates and Steve Balmer are busy with their preparations, but I'm sure that they'll need a bit of luck as well in 2009. Maybe they can get themselves one of these lucky cross tattoos (http://cross-tattoos.us/) !!!!
