Hello!
Paz asked me to come along and check out this new forum. How long has it be online? It's all nice and squeaky clean - lovely and shiney!
I'm a web developer, mainly in ASP, and proficient with SEO. Sorry, I didn't look to see if there are any prgramming sections in here? If there is, thats probably where you'll see my posts. If I can help anyone with ASP related problems, Javascript, AJAX, XML, CSS or of course (D)HTML - give me a nudge. Oh, I'm also quite good with Transact SQL and SQL Server.
Unfortunately, I know diddly squat about PHP - but otherwise I can be quite useful if you get stuck. :p
BSolve IT, my web design & SEO company does very well in the UK. A recent review actually found us to be the No.1 SEO company in the UK in their opinion (I don't know that I would agree though) because we have on average 40% more top results for SEO related searches across the top UK search engines than anyone else (Google.co.uk, MSN.co.uk, and Yahoo.co.uk).
Um... my favourite colour is blue?
My favourite milkshake would have to be banana, and er....I hate football.
If the world was going to end an I could only save 3 things, I would save:
- my computer
- my car
- ......and I suppose one of my children?
:titanic:
Anyway, hello to everyone! I'm looking forward to seeing some interesting posts... hopefully I'll have some interesting things to contribute too.
TTFN
Hi BSolveIT,
Glad you could make it.
We do have a sort of developer's forum with "html" "css" problems and we lumped everything else (asp php javascript etc) into a "programming" forum, but we may add sub-categories when the forum fills up a little.
The forum's maybe a little more on "search engine marketing" than "search engine optimisation" at the moment, but who knows the direction it will go in.
We've only been up a few weeks; most of us are either acquaintences, colleagues, or invited friends like yourself. We're an exclusive club - a sort of stealth SEO forum.... enjoy it while it lasts! :shhh:
Cheers,
Paz.

hey, welcome to the forum. So few ppl still code in ASP nowadays (if you mean classic and not .Net). I don't feel so alone anymore :p
Hi there!

Awww..shucks!
Thanks for the warm welcome chaps! Yep, I'm stuck in the stone age on good old ASP (without the dot net). I never get the time to make the transition - although I think I would like too.

.net mmmmmm never heard of it! lol
I am an asp guy as well. I was supposed to do the .net course a month ago, but I simply don't get the time. I have a .net developer working with me and I'll tell you the stuff he produce in a quarter of the time it would take me in ASP is amazing.

Oh I know what you mean. I've got a chap working for me who's very good with .net - every time I make the mistake of getting drawn into a conversation or demonstration, it kills me how much eaiser (and better) my life would be if I had the time to get my head around it.
Trouble is, is so vast, and so different from what we're used too - the only time we'll get the chance to go for it is when we have 4 - 6 weeks of nothing better to do. I don't remember when I last had that kind of time to play with. Er... plus....if I did have that kinda time.... would I really want to sound it learning .net ? hehe...er...yes - of course I would! (Yeah right!)
Hmmm...actually...how about us ASP'ers make some kind of learning pact, and help each other through the hard bits? Maybe agree what we're going to learn...set some easy timescales, etc...? We could use Windows Live Meeting to all chat interactively and share desktops - maybe do it once every couple fo weeks or something?
Might make it easier for the likes of us to force ourselves down that road - and maybe not feel so isolated and out of date along the way?
Just a thought.

Hi Daniel
Cool! Yes I've been working hard on this new CMS for a while. It's quite a nice system, even if I do say so myself. hehe
I'd love to show it to you and get some critical feedback / advice.
Give me a tinkle when your free?

hehe...Paz is brilliant! He's like secret marketing super weapon! :p
The CMS isn't quite finished yet, although it's already really clear to see what kind of a system it is & how easy it is to use.
There's a site I'm gradually building thats being generated by the new CMS which your welcome to have a look at, http://aris.bsolveit.com
Remember though that the site isn't finished yet...and it's hugely lacking in any real content - but you'll start to get a "flavour" for it.
As for the CMS itself, I'm not sure how to handle demo's where I'm not on handle to control it? Paz suggested doing some videos - which I think is going to be the best way. I've got camtasia studio which I use to build training videos - so I think thats probably what I'll have to do in the short term.
I'll get back to you asap.

Yep, a Virtual presentation is an excellent idea! I would suggest a demo test account aswell, as someone like me actually would like to test drive it in realtime rather than the video or virtual presentation. The problem with only providing a demo account is that people often find it difficult to understand the system and then loose interest.
