Hi,

I don't know if you know this one; it's an old internet marketing trick, but you can get traffic by writing articles and emailing them to webmasters and inviting them to put the article up on their site. You should ask that they leave the backlink in place at the bottom.

I get these emails myself, and I sometimes use the content, if it's relevant, but I had a strange one today:

Hi Carl,

I have included an article
which you are free to use in
your Winter Football Training ezine
and on your website.

Many Ringie Dingies

Cell phones, like computers have microprocessors and these are important to your acquisition of ringtones. Your cell phone's microprocessor brains works with its memory to do everything you want your phone to do. Ringtones are unique computer programs for your cell phone that are stored in your phone's memory and retrieved from there by your microprocessor your cell phone memory ......

I'm not sure what the connection is between football and mobile phones, so I'll pass on this one, but you should bear in mind this method can be a good way to get relevant backlinks for highly-targeted keywords, as well as perhaps boosting your traffic.

Cheers,
Paz.

Thats actually a very good idea, although the person who sent the one u used as an example needs to understand the concept of relevancy XD

Wouldnt it be considered spam though? :/

Yeah,

you'd have to do it carefully, and personalise it as much as possible.

But the site is my brother in law's site and I set it up for him but have no time to do seo on it. I'd have been quite happy to give the guy a link for a few hundred words of spider food and I'm sure I'm not the only person in that situation, in fact people pay for such articles for that reason.

Hi Paz, with regards to article exchanges...this is a method I have put to practise a few times, approaching webmasters of "good quality" sites...bearing in mind the relevance issue...in oter words i choose sites thats in the same industry...:p

I can honestly say that this can become a very frustrating procedure as many "webmasters" or who ever owns the site either deletes the email, doesnt reply or just simply ignores them..."Read receipts" :|

And to top it off, some of them can be extremely blunt by saying stuff like..."No" "I dont think so" and i dont even want to mention the others..

Then there is the ones replying saying no we dont do "recips" And not anywhere in the email request i send out do i even mention the word "reciprocal linking" Although this is another method thereof, there is a difference as we are exchanging good quality content which I think is a must have...So we getting a link and providing content for our readers/users...Killing 2 birdies with one stone!!!

But through all the frustration and waiting for replies, there will be the "one site" and if u r lucky "a worthwhile" site that will reply and be interested...and 2 me thats the rewarding part...Gaining that 1 good article exchange partner....So to any of you who is considering this method...be patient....thats what the SEO game is all about....lots and lots of patience....:p

Peace

Yeah, you're right you need patience and a tough skin to do SEO and online marketing.

If you get any particularly rude emails let us know and we'll 301 hijack their home page, and flood their sites with so many spammy sub-domain backlinks... they won't even be able to find their domain name in Google.

Cheers,
Paz.
