Hi,
I stumbled on a usability resource from the WC3 that gives web building tips (HTML, CSS etc.). When I had a look through I was suprised that nearly all of them were also important for on-page factors for optimising a document for search engines.
The <Title> tag was there at #1 identified as "..the most important element of a quality Web page." and
of course the importance of using header tags (<h1> to <h6>)
as well as descriptive image alt tags,
using descriptive link anchor text (and not "click here")
ordered lists to present details
etc.
Have a look through for yourself, you'll recognise them as old seo tricks for sure.

Cheers,
Paz.
