Ok, so call me arrogant or ignorant, but if there is one thing that rubs me the wrong way it is people that think they know what they are talking about. Here is an example of an online marketing wannabe (http://www.grahamjones.co.uk/2007/03/internet-marketing-dont-waste-your-time.htm)...

After 11 years in the industry of which I have been spending the past 9 in specializing in online marketing, I must say this guy seems to look at the wrong research or is trying to obtain links by stating information that is totally inaccurate.

That is a bit of a non-logic way of putting your reputation on the line to make stupid claims about the success of search... Well it is working, but don't think I will do the same :o

LOL, it's definitely linkbait, but the guys's so clueless it's not intentional in my view.

The key phrase for me is "most people have to search with several different queries until they find what they are after."

This is probably true, but that's a problem with users not search engines. Other reports suggest that SE users are learning to make more specific searches using 3 keywords rather than one or two.

There are something like 0.5 million people searching the net each month for "enterprise". Have a look at the Google serps for "enterprise (http://www.google.com/search?q=enterprise&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official)". Google serves up sites on Star Trek, entrepreneurship, enterprise software, but the top spot goes to the owner of the domain name enterprise.com, a car rental company.

I think Google does a pretty decent job here with a single keyword search, but I'm sure people will learn that they have to be more specific with search engines.

But for an "internet marketing psychologist" to say "Don't Waste Your Time With Search Engines.".... it's laughable.

I agree with Paz. In general, the more general the keyword the more general the results will be :p
